AppearancesNow today released bidding on court appearance requests. Until now a request went to a matching attorney at a fixed price. Attorneys can now respond to any open request in one of three ways: accept at the posted rate, accept with a custom rate, or decline.
How it works for firms
Post the appearance as before. Bids appear on the request as they arrive, each showing the attorney's profile, the proposed client price, and whether the attorney has appeared in that courthouse through the platform. Assign the one you want. The firm's card is charged only at assignment, and the attorney is paid when the firm closes the appearance after the final report.
How it works for attorneys
Open requests show the posted payout and the hearing details. If the posted rate works, accept it. If a hearing is far away, late in the day or likely to run long, propose a rate instead. Declining a request removes it from your queue and keeps your response rate accurate.
Why we built it
Fixed pricing was simple but it left money on the table in both directions. Firms over-paid for easy calendar calls and attorneys under-bid on hard ones. Bidding lets the price settle where the work actually is, while keeping the flat-fee model that makes appearance coverage predictable.
Bidding is live for all accounts. Firms can post a request and attorneys can apply to join today.
